Julie Marie Higgins

November 27, 1976 ~ March 31, 2009 (age 32)

Julie Marie Higgins, of 10922 Westview Ave., Meadville, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie as a result of sustained injuries from an automobile accident.  She was 32.


Julie was born November 27, 1976 in Meadville - a daughter of Terry and Sharon Haemer Prenatt.  She married Sean J. Higgins on October 25, 2003.


Julie was a 1995 graduate of Meadville High School and a 2001 graduate of Edinboro University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.  She was a devoted wife and mother who had previously worked in the oncology department at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, OH, as well as for Dr. Rene Sartain in Dublin, OH.


Julie, a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, exercising, and especially being a mother to her two sons, Connor Mathew Higgins and Braden Michael Higgins, both at home.  She was affiliated with St. Mary of Grace Church.


Survivors, in addition to her husband and 2 sons, include her parents, Terry and Sharon Prenatt of Meadville; a sister, Jodie Rae Deal and her husband Charles of Sigel; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Timothy and Rose Marie Higgins of Ridgeville, SC; aunts and uncles, Patricia DeBaise of Christmas, Fla., Richard Prenatt of Louisville, KY, David Prenatt of Conneaut Lake, Jeffrey Prenatt of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a special aunt, Candice Maloney of Cochranton; and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by an infant son, Aidan Joseph Higgins.


Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 30 Park Ave., Meadville. 


The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Solomon, Pastor officiating.  Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
