Lana J. McKinney, 77, of 702 N. Grant Street, Meadville, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home following a long illness.

She was born in Estherville, Iowa January 31, 1926 a daughter of Arthur and Leone Shapley Amdal.

She was a 1944 graduate of Meadville High School and she retired in 1985 from Avtex Corp.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served on the Deacon Board, the Advisory Board, taught the 7th grade Sunday School class and then later the Plus Ultra Class.  She also served as Guild Leader and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir.  She held various offices in the American Baptist Women at the local level and in the French Creek Association level.  In 1971 she started the Working Gal’s Golf League and served as President for the first two years.  She was a member of the YWCA, the Faithlifters, Watson Run Women’s Club and was a volunteer at Women’s Services.  She also enjoyed spending time at the Community Center playing cards.

Survivors, include a sister, Delores Bailey of Canfield, OH; a brother, Kenneth Martin and his wife Toby of The Villages, FL, eight nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and a great great niece and nephew.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Amdal and Dale Martin and two sisters, Betty Linsey and Verla Hedgelin.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 353 Chestnut Street, Meadville with the Rev. Gregory Streed, officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
