Marguerite E. (Gabler) Butker

October 15, 1924 ~ March 24, 2018 (age 93)

Marguerite E. Butker, 93, of Conneaut Lake, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018.


She was born October 15, 1924 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Raymond and Minnie Wissinger Gabler.


Marguerite was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Master’s Degree in Library Science.  She also held an Associate’s Degree in travel and tourism.  She worked as an elementary school teacher in the Wilkinsburg School District.


Marguerite attended Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of Penn Hills Free Methodist Church.  She served one year in Taiwan with the Free Methodist Missionaries as a teacher and also took a mission trip to Caracas, Venezuela.  Marguerite was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and Meadville Medical Center auxiliary, volunteer at the Carnegie Library following retirement, for R.S.V.P., and at Meadville Medical Center.  She enjoyed knitting and traveling.


Survivors include four children, Frederick (Rick) Butker (Ruth) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rebecca Butker (Eugene Kirk) of Conneaut Lake, Jeffrey Butker (Colleen) of Martinsville, VA, and Russell Butker (Beth) of Apollo; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.


Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 28th from 3 to 6 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE.


A Chapel service followed by interment will be Thursday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park, with the Rev. Jay Sterling, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.


Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
