Richard Eric Cole

May 3, 1941 ~ May 2, 2009 (age 67)

Richard Eric (Dick) Cole, 67, of 136 Painted Bunting Drive, Troutman, NC, died Saturday May 2, 2009, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. 


He was born in Meadville, May 3, 1941, a son of the late Robert and Martha McMullen Cole.  He married Dale Patricia Glaski on August 13, 1969, and she survives.


Dick was a 1959 graduate of Meadville High School and served from 1959 to 1961 with the U. S. Army in the Panama Canal Zone.


He retired from Digital Equipment Corporation of Maynard, MA as a financial consultant and analyst.  He was member of the Troutman, NC and Marlboro, MA Masonic Lodges and was a Mason for over 30 years.  He was an award winning amateur photographer and has served as president of two camera clubs in MA.  He was a coin collector and enjoyed passing out presidential coins to children.  He loved to go for rides in the country and also visit relatives.  He was an extremely patriotic individual.  He attended Beulah Heights Wesleyan Church of Troutman.  He loved his dogs Joker-Joe and Lucky, and his cats, Miss Kitty and Spot.


Survivors in addition to his wife of nearly 40 years, include a stepbrother, Peter Harpin of Alabama; a stepsister, Nancy Roker of Phoenix, AZ, and cousins, including Warren E. Smith and his wife Mary Ann of Conneaut Lake, Carol Cares and her husband Robert of Ann Arbor, MI and a very special cousin, Patricia Mukina of Edinboro.


Following services in Troutman, NC, visitation will be Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Trent Patterson, Pastor of Beulah Wesleyan Church of Troutman, NC.


Burial with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006 will be in Greendale Cemetery.


The family suggests memorials may be made to Campbell Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 181, or Troutman Library Fund, P.O. Box 74, both of Troutman, NC 28166.
