Obituary

Danny Lee Knickerbocker, 68, of Conneautville, died Monday, October 25, 2021 at UPMC Hamot, Erie.

 

He was born in Meadville, January 20, 1953, a son of Ralph H. and Nellie L. Dilley Knickerbocker, Jr.  He married Lu Ann Shallenberger, January 15, 1987 and she survives.

 

Danny was a 1971 graduate of Saegertown High School.  He was employed as a truck driver for PennDOT for 20 years, retiring in 2016.  He was previously employed by Foust Excavating.

 

Danny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He enjoyed family genealogy research, restoring antique cars, riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, photography, and especially spending time with his granddaughters.

 

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Lu Ann, include a son, Ryan Knickerbocker (Alesha) of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Kara Knickerbocker of Pittsburgh; two granddaughters, Cora and Ellie Knickerbocker; his mother, Nellie Knickerbocker of Saegertown; two sisters, June Gebhardt (William) and Carol Rhoades (fiancé, Tony Demitras), all of Meadville; a brother, Myrle Knickerbocker (Peggy) of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Michael Berry and James Rhoades.

 

Family and friends will be received Friday, October 29th from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 30th from 10 to 11 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

 

The funeral service will be Saturday, October 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Spencer Hill, Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, officiating.

 

Interment will be in Denny Cemetery.

 

Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Historical Society, 869 Diamond Park, Meadville, PA 16335.
