Eleanor J. Peterson, 96, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Wesbury United Methodist Community where she resided since 2010.
Born in Conneautville, PA, on July 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Glenn R. Curtis and Gladys M. Gaut Curtis. She married Reid Peterson August 9, 1947, and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1996. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
Eleanor graduated from Meadville High School and was employed as a teletype operator for American Viscose Corporation. She was subsequently employed for 23 years as a switchboard operator/receptionist for The Meadville Tribune until her retirement in June 1989.
Survivors include a son, Gary L. Peterson of Meadville, two grandsons, Jeffrey R. Peterson (Amy) of Mars, PA and Zachary T. Peterson (Renee) of Avon, OH; four great grandchildren, Madelyn Peterson, Carter Peterson, Scarlett Peterson and Clark Peterson; a nephew, Scott Curtis (Pam) of Meadville and a niece, Susan Kidd (Glen) of Meadville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dwight R. Peterson and his wife Christine; a brother, Lyle Curtis and his wife Jean and a great grandson, Landon Peterson.
Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating. Face masks and social distancing per CDC guidelines will be followed.
Eleanor will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
