Mary Lou Waid

Mary Lou Waid, 81, of Meadville, died Friday, April 14, 2023, at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born September 20, 1941, in Meadville, a daughter of William Karl (Mick) and Elda M. White Dickson.  She married David B. Waid June 20, 1959, and he preceded her in death March 26, 2006.

Mary Lou was a 1959 graduate of Meadville High School and later the Crawford County Vo-Tech hospital lab technician program.  She worked as a lab technician at Meadville City Hospital and Meadville Medical Center.  She previously worked at Flickinger’s Nursing Home.

Mary Lou was a member of First Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading and cross stitching, loved traveling, and was known as “Mama Waid” to everyone who knew her.    

Survivors include four children, Kathi Waid, David Waid, Suzanne Waite (Michael), and Jonathan Waid, all of Meadville; a sister, Linda Winans of Meadville; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and David; nieces; nephews; her grand-dogs, Bacall, Miah, and Murray; and several cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant grandson, Patrick Orion Waid; and her dog, Sophie.

Per Mary Lou’s wishes, there are no services.

Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., Meadville, PA 16335.
