Nancy Roberta McElhinny

Nancy Roberta McElhinny, 66, died at home Monday, March 28, 2022.  She was born August 15, 1955 in San Diego, CA a daughter of Richard Sandez and Rachel Herrera Castro.  She married Gary McElhinny April 18, 1987 and he survives.

She grew up in California and then moved to Texas where she first worked for Bank of America rising to the position of Vice-President.  She then started her own company, Fabulous Fibers and Embellishments.  She and Gary traveled the country promoting the company even after they had relocated to Pennsylvania.

Nancy was of the Roman Catholic faith.  She was very artistic and loved sewing.  Some of her work was published and she was recognized for inventing a type of sewing stitch.  However, her family was the love of her life, and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Gary of 34 years, include: four children, Daniel McElhinny (Renae) of Meadville, Danytte Martin (Barry) of Fort Worth, TX, Dana Eagle (Brad) of Frisco, TX and Anthony McElhinny (Jamie) of Pittsburgh; ten grandchildren, Brendan, Lucas, Tyler, Trinity, Matthew, Tristin, Taryn, Kaitlyn, Abby and Marleigh; two great grandchildren, Rayne and Hazel; two brothers, Richard Castro (Pat) in Florida and Glenn Castro (Carol) in California and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 2-6 p.m. at St. Brigid Church Social Hall, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, PA.

The family suggests memorials be made in Nancy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org
