Samuel LeRoy Murdock, 80, of Meadville died Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Marquette Hospice House following a short illness.
He was born May 7, 1939 in Cochranton a son of Alfred T. and Jennie Melvina Hogg Murdock, Sr. He married Beverly Hutchinson September 10, 1960 and she survives.
He was a 1958 graduate of Cochranton High School and he served in the US Army from 1963-1965. Following his discharge, he was employed by Channellock for 35 years retiring in 2000 as production manager.
He was a member of Littles Corners United Methodist Church; a life-member of Hayfield Central Hose Co. and a member of American Legion Post #111. He enjoyed traveling over the years with Anderson Tours, working in his garage and mowing his lawn.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Beverly of 59 years, include a daughter, Cindy Ames (Kevin) of Meadville; a sister, Elsie Liggett of Meadville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Painter, Alfreda Deeter and Alice Shaw and two brothers, Alfred Murdock, Jr. and Wayne Murdock.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 25th from 12-2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Bobin, Pastor of Littles Corners United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
