William P. Davis, Sr., 80, of Meadville, died at home, Tuesday, January 1, 1991, after an extended illness.
He was born in Meadville, February 18, 1910, a son of George T. and Anna May Buzza Davis. He married Grace L. Moore, who survives.
Davis graduated from Meadville High School and took his college work at Penn State College, Behrend Center, Erie.
Prior to Davis' retirement, his industrial career included 23 years in the manufacturing, training and industrial relations divisons at Talon, Inc. and three years with the National Tube Corp., a United State Steel subsidiary, where he served as director of training and later as assistant to the director of industrial relations. At the time of his retirement, he was owner of his own real estate service in Meadville.
Davis was a pioneer in the field of training and in the early stages of Talon's growth, he was involved in the selection and training of Talon employees in all manufacturing units of the company. He also was an active member of the industrial committee of the former Meadville High School Vocational-Technical School.
He was a member of numerous civic and social groups.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, William P. Davis, Jr. of Columbus, OH; a stepson, Charles R. Moore of Meadville; five sisters, Anna M. Mullins of King of Prussia, Evva Teitelbaum of Philadelphia, Ruth Zimmerman of Long Beach, CA, Gloria Lyons of Margate, NJ and Shelia Linz of Meadville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
