Dale R. (Little Smiles) Shilling

Dale R. (Little Smiles) Shilling, 62, of Meadville, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at his residence following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born March 21, 1960 in Meadville, a son of John R. (Jack) and Marilyn Holmes Shilling.  He married Kimberly Whiting October 11, 1986.

Dale was a 1978 graduate of Meadville High School.  A member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 9, he was owner and operator of Shilling Masonry.

Dale was a member of Masonic Lodge 408, Charles Stafford American Legion Post 111, VFW Post 2006, Saegertown American Legion Post 205, Vernon Central Hose Company, Conneaut Lake VFD Station 3, Meadville Hunting and Fishing Club, and the former Meadville Club.

Dale loved riding motorcycles, tinkering, golfing, and hunting, especially elk hunting in Colorado with his good friends Norbert and Frieda.  He always had a positive attitude and smile on his face.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Kim include two children Ashley Shilling (Ben Johnson) of Westland, MI and Eric Shilling of Tempe, AZ; two sisters, Linda Hornstein of Conneaut Lake and Kathy Beard (David) of Sharpsburg, MD; two uncles, Dan Shilling (Sharon) of Conneaut Lake and Ron Shilling (Jeanie) of Charlotte, NC; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Donald Hornstein; and his in-laws, Dean and Shirley Whiting.

A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at a future date.
