Ethel Mallon of Adams Township, PA, formerly a long-term resident of Conneaut Lake, died at age 102 on January 23, 2020.
She was born at home in Carrick, PA on February 2, 1917, the daughter of Mark and Ethel Vance Cowden. She lived happy childhood years in Waynesburg, PA prior to the family moving to Washington, PA. She graduated from Washington High School in 1933 and Slippery Rock State Teachers College in 1937. While attending Slippery Rock she met Carl William Mallon, who she married in June 1940.
Ethel and family moved to Conneaut Lake in 1951, and she lived there until 1994.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister, a daughter (Linda), and a grandson (Matthew).
She is survived by her son Bill (wife Lynn) of The Woodlands, TX; son Mark (wife Bonnie) of Gibsonia, PA; daughter Nancy Zabaloieff of Washington, D.C.; son Jeff of Adams Township, PA; four grandsons (C.W. Mallon III, Andrew Mallon, Alexander Zabaloieff and Kristopher Zabaloieff); two granddaughters (Dani O’Neill and Emily Mallon); and two great grandchildren (C.W. Mallon IV and Elizabeth Mallon).
Calling hours will be Monday, January 27th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Heagy officiating.
An internment service for the family will be held thereafter at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
